THRUXTON ROUND -
2ND OUTING IN VIPER BRINGS BEST RESULTS OF
THE SEASON FOR FOSTER AND REDWOOD| 27.08.07

Thruxton was the venue for rounds 9 and 10
of the British GT championship and Redwood
and Foster were driving their Team RPM Viper
for the second time this year.
Even though it was the pairs only 2nd outing
in the new car, they qualified P3 for race
one and P11 for race two.
Race one saw Redwood start and take 2nd
place on lap one. Then for the next 32
minutes Redwood battled to hold of the Aston
Martins. With Bradley Ellis in the lead in
the other RPM Viper, Redwood explained “My
main focus was to hold off the rest of the
field and give Brad and Alex a good lead.
The battle with the Astons was great fun and
I held onto second for over 30 minutes”.
Redwood pitted in 3rd place after 32 minutes
to hand to Foster who went on to have a
great battle for 3rd, 4th and 5th,
eventually taking 4th with only two laps to
go.
Both Redwood and Foster were on the pace in
Race one and 4th was their best result to
date this year.
In the second Race Foster started and
battled from 11th to 8th on lap one and then
took 7th from Team mate Tim Harvey after 10
minutes. Foster handed over to Redwood after
30 minutes who soon pushed on and took the
car to 4th. Then with just three minutes
left, Redwood suffered a front left blow out
and had to crawl around the entire lap to
the pits.
The unplanned pit stop resulted in the duo
rejoining on the last lap in ninth place,
Redwood explains “we had to push to the end
because the Aston Martins were challenging
me for forth. I could not let up, and it was
just a shame that we had a blow out. There
was no warning, the tyre just let go under
braking for the complex. This weekend has
been a big improvement for both of us and we
have enjoyed challenging for podium places
in both races”.
Redwood and Foster are confident the rest of
the season will bring more points finishes
and are looking forward to improving the
cars setup further.
